PUC Community Charter Elementary School Named 2025 California Distinguished School
Dear PUC Community,
I hope you’re enjoying the springtime and are looking forward to a restful Spring Break next week. Today, I’m writing to share some exciting and well-deserved news about PUC Community Charter Elementary School.
PUC Community Charter Elementary has been named a 2025 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education. Congratulations! This recognition was given to an amazing group of 336 elementary schools across the state, only 54 of which are in LAUSD. PUC Community Charter Elementary received this award for its exceptional student performance.
We are excited to have a school receive this honor. This recognition acknowledges the hard work, passion, and determination which PUC Community Charter Elementary has shown over the past year. I would specifically like to thank Principal Jocelyn Velez, who tirelessly supports each and every student, teacher, and staff member throughout the school.
PUC Community Charter Elementary responds to the socioemotional and academic needs of its students by providing them with support and academic intervention. Our teachers’ practices and individualized care have led to an 18.4% increase in students’ English Language arts performance and an 18.7% increase in math. These are remarkable results.
At PUC Schools, we have built a culture rooted in the value of education, perseverance, and the importance of uplifting communities. Our teachers have worked diligently to provide PUC Community Charter Elementary students with safe and supportive classrooms which encourage and challenge students to give their best. We look forward to continuing our support for every student who enters our school.

Espero que estén disfrutando de la primavera y que tengan unas vacaciones de primavera tranquilas la próxima semana. Hoy les escribo para compartirles una noticia emocionante y muy merecida sobre PUC Community Charter Elementary School.
PUC Community Charter Elementary ha sido nombrada como una Escuela Distinguida de California de 2025 por el Departamento de Educación de California. ¡Felicitaciones! Este reconocimiento fue dado a un grupo increíble de 336 escuelas primarias en todo el estado, solo 54 de las cuales están en LAUSD. PUC Community Charter Elementary recibió este premio por su excepcional desempeño estudiantil.
Nos complace que una escuela reciba este honor. Este reconocimiento reconoce el arduo trabajo, la pasión y la determinación que PUC Community Charter Elementary ha demostrado durante el último año. Quisiera agradecer especialmente a la directora Jocelyn Velez, quien apoya incansablemente a todos los estudiantes, maestros y miembros del personal de la escuela.
